Under the bright sunlight of the afternoon of August 17, 2024, Con Dao - a precious gem of Vietnamese nature - became the center of attention with the Sea Turtle Run season 3. With the message "Every Step, Ten Thousand Green Miles", this event is not only a sports competition but also a strong call for environmental conservation awareness, where the footsteps of more than 200 athletes not only leave their mark on the running path but also spread the message of protecting sea turtles - a symbol of ecological balance here.
Organized annually by AKYN Hotel Group and The Secret Con Dao Hotel, this year’s race carries a special mark as it celebrates the hotel’s fourth anniversary. The event is not only a gathering place for athletes from all over, but also a symbol of love for nature and environmental responsibility.

On the beautiful routes through majestic mountains and forests and poetic beaches, the athletes experienced not only a physical challenge but also a journey into nature. The three distances of 3km, 5km, and 10km, under the romantic sunset, were not only a race but also an opportunity for athletes to explore the wild beauty of Con Dao - where every step is imprinted on the ground, as a commitment to nature and the responsibility to preserve the environment.

Each ticket to the race carries a contribution to the sea turtle conservation fund at Con Dao National Park, a symbol of the commitment of the Organizing Committee and athletes to the environment. This action demonstrates the commitment of both the Organizing Committee and athletes to maintaining and protecting the habitat of sea turtles - an indispensable part of the Con Dao ecosystem.
The Organizing Committee's donation of 100 million VND to the National Park and AKYN Group and The Secret Con Dao Hotel's donation of an additional 20 million VND to the People's Committee of Con Dao District affirmed the practical contribution of the event to the cause of nature protection and responsible tourism development.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thu - President of AKYN Hospitality Group, representative of the Organizing Committee, donated 100,000,000 VND for sea turtle conservation activities of Con Dao National Park.
The representative of the Organizing Committee presented 20,000,000 VND to the representative of the People's Committee of Con Dao District for local tourism development activities.
This year’s race left its mark with outstanding achievements. Nguyen Duc Hoa and Bui Van Quy Em completed the 3km and 5km distances in impressive times of 12 and 18 minutes respectively. In the international group, Kento Kabashima from Japan and Tijntje Louwers from the Netherlands won first and second place in the 10km and 5km distances. Notably, two students Vo Nguyen Minh Thu and Nguyen Ha Linh Dan won first place in the 3km distance in the junior athlete group. These impressive results have inspired the younger generation about sportsmanship and environmental protection.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thu - Chairwoman of AKYN Group expressed her joy when the race received enthusiastic support. She emphasized that the expectations of the participants were a great motivation to help elevate the event, from a grassroots race to a meaningful activity. No matter how it develops, the original goal of the program is still maintained: promoting sustainable tourism in Con Dao, raising awareness of environmental protection, especially the marine environment. She hopes that this event will contribute to building a green, clean, beautiful Con Dao, where people and nature develop together in harmony.
The most special moment of this year’s race was certainly when a group of runners discovered and rescued a 65kg green turtle stranded on Lo Voi beach. The turtle was then safely returned to the sea, marking a memorable and iconic moment for the race’s environmental protection spirit.
The success of the 2024 Sea Turtle Run cannot be achieved without the support of large enterprises.
